Ro-Ro services have started at Karasu Port in Sakarya, located just over 150km east of Istanbul on Turkey’s Black Sea coastline. Last month, Ro-Ro services started to Chornomorsk port in Ukraine.
The new service is expected to make a positive contribution to the country’s exports for companies shipping products to other Black Sea countries. The journey to Ukraine takes around 24 hours.
“KarasuPort”, gateway of Marmara Region through the Black Sea, has a total area of 250,000 m². It has three berths and one dolphin jetty; the depth is 11 metres in port. The hinterland connections include Kocaeli and Sakarya cities which have high shares in Turkey’s GDP. KarasuPort’s road and rail connections link it to the country’s major markets, providing customers with logistics solutions and quality service.
The port is operated by IC Ictas Sakarya Karasu Port Investment and Operating SA, a joint venture of IC Altyapi and Ictas Insaat.
