With “HackOurStyle” slogan, the university students will prepare their designs in a design hackathon which will last for two days. The winning design selected by the Jury will be introduced to the public in April 2019 and will be the new uniform of Atlasglobal Airlines cabin crew.

Atlasglobal Airlines, the most innovative company of the aviation industry awarded with 4 stars by Skytrax, leads the way again with an innovation breaking the old practices in the industry. After deciding to renew the cabin crew uniforms, Atlasglobal Airlines will realize the first ever design hackathon of the industry in cooperation with HUGO BOSS Textile Industries in İzmir, the production facilities of the world-renowned fashion brand HUGO BOSS. The cooperation will be realized with “#HackOurStyle” slogan, and the young designers from Dokuz Eylül University and İzmir Ekonomi University Fashion and Textile Design department will design the new uniforms of Atlasglobal Airlines cabin crew.

The cooperation of Atlasglobal Airlines and HUGO BOSS Textile Industries has been announced with a press meeting held in Izmir. Atlasglobal Airlines President Murat Ersoy and HUGO BOSS Textile Industies Managing Director Joachim Hensch participated in the meeting.

Atlasglobal Airlines President Murat Ersoy spoke in the meeting and said “We have always broken new grounds and introduced innovations to the aviation industry since the first day. We have become a company of the firsts. And today we are together here for a new “first”. Like in the world, the airline companies in Turkey design their uniforms with traditional methods. But now, we, together with HUGO BOSS Textile Industry, announce a cooperation which will break and innovate the standard and traditional methods”.

Murat Ersoy pointed out that there is a standard approach in cabin crew uniform design in today’s airline industry and added: Almost all airlines prefer working with a famous fashion designer with big budgets. We wanted to make an innovation, and decided to design our uniforms together with the university students who are the future of our country, with the understanding of a social responsibility project. And in line with this strategy, we, together with our project business partnet HUGO BOSS Textile Industries, decided to work with Dokuz Eylül University and İzmir Ekonomi University Fashion and Textile Design Department students. Young designers will first meet our cabin crew, listen to them, study our company. We will provide them any information they may need within this period. Designers having all data will experience a 48-hour design hackathon which is realized for the first time both in airline and the textile industries. At the end of 48 hours, all designs prepared will be evaluated by the jury consisting of the experts from different specialization areas.

HUGO BOSS Textile Industries will also provide technical support for the students

HUGO BOSS Textile Industries Managing Director Joachim Hensch spoke in the press meeting and said:

As HUGO BOSS Textile Industries, we are very happy to be a partner in this innovative work. We have always supported the young people in the field of training and especially vocational training since our establishment. We have adopted it as an indispensable responsibility to invest in the young people and to transfer our knowledge to them in order to help them realize their potential. We will host the young designers in our İzmir facilities, one of the most modern production facilities of the world in ready-made clothing sector, during the creation process of the new designs in this 48-hour design hackathon. We will provide any technical support for the young designers and help them benefit from our expertise in the production and technical information subjects.

Young designers will start their career with Atlasglobal Airlines

This project will bring this industry-university cooperation in the fields of design and fashion to the top, and will be an example for the airline industry. Young designers will appear in this field where only the famous fashion designers have appeared for the decades. Design department students who will take part in this challenging and exciting hackathon will first meet the cabin crew in HUGO BOSS Textile Industries production facilities and listen to their needs and expectations, and learn the tricks of making a producible design from the experts.

In the second part of the process, the students will visit Atlasglobal Airlines head office in Istanbul and get all essential information about the company and work and exchange views with the top management of the company. In the last part of the project, the students will participate in the 48-hour design hackathon on 5-6-7 November in HUGO BOSS Textile Industries production facilities. They will prepare their designs in 48 hours and present them to the jury. The jury, consisting of experts from different fields, will select the winning design and designer. New uniforms will be launched in April 2019. Winning designer/team will be awarded with one year unlimited free flights for two persons from Atlasglobal Airlines and a two-day trip to HUGO BOSS facilities in Stuttgart and the opportunity of meeting with the design team of HUGO BOSS.
