TARGETING NEW RECORDS
Emre Uygun, Vice Chairman of Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association said that Turkish exporters show the best performance in recent years.
“It is worth noting that there is a significant increase in exports in comparison to the 2012-2013 season when the record is broken” Uygun said.
“The main point is the increase in export unit prices. Average of export value of olive oil which is about 3 thousand dollars per ton in the 2012-2013 season is over 4 thousand dollars this season. It is definetely the mostimportant the for us. Our producers have evaluated the product better and also from the prices rising abroad, our exports will continue for as long as we are able to produce in quantities that can be exported to foreign markets” Uygun commented.
“This year, our official figure in olive oil is 287 thousand tons, while the production figures in Spain, are 1.7 million tons in average, and this is the highest figure of the Turkish history” Uygun said.
