Tarakçıoğlu: More than 40 Turkish firms will show up at Foodex Japan

Japan is one of the largest food markets with a population of 128 millionin the world. The country imports a considerable portion of its consumption and has supplied food products of about 80 billion dollars from the world over past years. Japan also hosts Foodex, which is one of the most important food fairs on a global scale. Turkey’s national participation in 43th edition of Foodex is being organized by Aegean Exporters’ Association as like in last 20 years. Nurettin Tarakçıoğlu, Vice President of Aegean Exporters’ Association underlines the fact that relations between Turkey and Japan has a long and deep history. Tarakçıoğlu added that they are aiming to get the best out of this potential.

Mr. Tarakçıoğlu, could you tell about Turkey’s participation to the 43th edition of Foodex Japan? And what is the range of Turkish products?

Foodex Japan is one of the leading food & beverage trade show in the Asia-Pacific and Aegean Exporters’ Associations has been organizing Turkish national participation for the 21st time to the 43rd Foodex Japan 2018 to be held on 6-9 Mar 2018 in Chiba, Japan. When we first organized this show in 1998, the number of Turkish companies was almost 10 and our product range was so narrow. Now, we have 42 exhibitors presenting a wide range of products including dried and frozen fruits and vegetables, olive oil and other edible oils, olives, canned and preserved and pickled vegetables and fruits, fruit juices, pasta and semolina, pulses and cereal products, confectionery and bakery, spices and herbs, nuts, honey, organic agricultural products, natural foods, fishery and poultry products etc.

What kind of attractions will the visitors find at Turkish pavilion and booths?

In the Turkish Pavilion, we will have an attractive trend area that cooking shows will be organized for introducing the Turkish cuisine that is known as one of the best three cuisines in the world by a well-known Turkish Chef. Besides, Ebru Art show (art of Marbling), which is a traditional Turkish art of creating colourful patterns by sprinkling and brushing colour pigments onto a pan of oily water and then transferring the patterns to paper,   will be presented at this area.

Turkey is a unique country and also the leader in many specialty food categoriesand we look forward to growing our presence in Japan and around the World. We also believe that Foodex Japan is the right address for promoting our healthy and natural products in Asia-Pasific countries.
