As we increase our exports in our existing markets, we have started to open new markets with various projects. 2017 was a positive year in every sense, from our capacity utilization rates compared to the previous year, to the kilograms of export value. The value added of exports that we have realized increases day by day. This year we received around 1 per cent share in world trade, as the skin around 1 percent share of Turkey’s exports we received from the public. In both areas we have to export high value added products to increase this share, increase our capacity utilization rate and increase our share in newly opened markets. We are in capacity to achieve this as a sector, “he said.
Şenocak emphasized that the United States is the biggest importer of the sector and said: “Although our exports to the United States, the biggest importer of the world in 2017, have increased by 15%, our share of this market is not even 1%. Therefore, we attach great importance to the United States and here Turkey Exporters Assembly established by Turkey Trade Center (TTC). We have completed our preparations to take part in the project and made the application of our company. 20 companies affiliated to Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association will establish their offices there. The bigger the share we get from this market, the bigger our exports will be. We have the power to succeed. We also care about Africa as well as other regions for our footwear industry. There is a large market share in Turkey and we cannot get enough share out of this market. Our initiatives continue in this direction. With the support of the Ministry of Economy, Ur-Ge projects and Europe, America and Africa, 2018 will be a year of leap for us. ”
