Turkish garment industry had a fluctuation period in first quarter of 2017 but the sector is recovering. Despite the slowdown due to undesired developments and problems with target markets, the sector reached the same exportation level with 2016 due to rising demand from markets in second half of the year. Our end-of-year expectation is to reach a higher level than total exportation in 2016. Being one of Turkey’s traditional markets, Spain, caught a rising trend this year both in Aegean region and whole Turkey. As Aegean exporters, our exportation increased by 22 percent to Spain with an amount of 284 million dollars. Thus, Spain became Aegean exporters’ main trade partner for the first time. Our en-of-year expectation is to reach an exportation level of 1,25 billion dollars.
We foresee a similar trend also for 2018. If there will not be any major changes in conjuncture, income created by Aegean exporters’ can be expected to reach a higher level than 2017 figures. Our exportation target for year 2018 is 1,3 billion dollars.
