The prominent exports in the dried fruits and products are: seedless raisins, dried figs, Dried apricots and pistachio nuts. In dried fruit exports, seedless raisins have a share of 54%, dried apricots 16% and dried figs 15%, pistachio 2%. In 2016, dry fruit exports in Turkey increased by 7% in quantity and 3% in value in comparison to the previous year. The UK is one of the most important export markets in exports, followed by Germany and the Netherlands. The European Union, which is the traditional export market for dry fruit sector, takes the first place with 65% share in our exports. Our estimates for the year 2017; amounting to 500,000 tons and value of 1 billion 400 million dollars.
Turkey’s Dry Fruit Export Numbers
The last 5 seasons including 2017/18 season seedless raisins, dried figs and dry apricot yield estimates are shown in Table 2. On the other hand, in the 2016/17 season, 270,016 tons of seedless raisins were exported (a 33% increase compared to last year) which amounts to 419,268 dollars (an increase of 1% compared to last year); The dry apricot exports amounted to 86,279 tons (up 13% compared to last year), while the value was 273,489 dollars (a 15% decrease compared to last year). For dry figs, the export amount was 61,688 tons (7% decrease compared to last year) and the value was 227,374 dollars (1% decrease compared to last year) as of 16.09.2017.
