Although the UNESCO adventure is a short period of time considering Selçuk’s 8600 years history, still we can say that a long yearning has ended
The first step for Selçuk to receive UNESCO label was taken when Ephesus Antique City, together with Artemision, St. Jean Basilica and Ayasuluk Castle were taken to the temporary list of UNESCO World Heritage in 1994. Mary’s Church is in Ephesus, and St. Jean Church is in Ayasuluk. It is important for Şirince that both churches are available for service. We own our values and make our county a place where Christians can freely and comfortably realize their traditions”.
Mayor of Selçuk Municipality Dr. Dahi Zeynel Bakcı listed the thing to be done in the second phase as, “Ayasuluk is a project with a wide scope. In the second phase of this project all the structures in the castle will be renovated. All the roads in the castle will be illuminated. Security surveillance system will be installed.
