Projects to carry food sector to the future are rewarded
The champions for V. International Food R&D Project Market became clear in an Agean Exporters Association organization with ‘carry your idea to the future’ slogan that aims to bring together new ideas and to increase value added production. The winners got 120 thousand TL where 10 prizes were given in 5 categories.
Rıza Seyyar, Agean Exporters Association Food R&D Project Market Chairman of Executive Council, in his speech at the award ceremony said, although may seem costly, R&D decreases unit cost and increases quality and is very important especially for international competition. “We have to be dynamic and go with innovations to be competitive in international markets and increase export.” says Seyyar, “In the past our problem was to find a market , nowadays the important thing is to be competitive and innovator with the changing conditions so this is why R&D Project market has a significant importance. This organization proves our change in the way of commercial interpretation. We are aware of the importance of innovation just like developed countries.”
Turkey Exporters Council Vice President Mustafa Cıkrıkcıoglu pointed out that in the global markets competition is escalating and consumer intentions are different; design and brand competition is becoming prominent over price competition. Cıkrıkcıoglu, mentioned that competition is tough and continues as; “Export is becoming more difficult. We have to increase value added production. Of course this is not easy. We have to have a mentality revolution. We have to design highly productive processes in production, design, purchasing, and packaging. So how will we do this? with our potential.. with willpower.. with faith in success.. with new Turkey brand.. We will build foundation of export with innovation and design.”
In the researcher category, Agean University Filiz İcier as the project leader, ‘concentrated fruit juice with Ohmic evaporation under vacuum’ project was the winning. In the same category Istanbul Technical University, Duygu Yılmaz as the Project leader came in second with ‘ Olive seeds and biowaste based antioxidant and antibacterial bioplastic production’. Agean University with Sedef Nehir as the project leader came third with ‘ one marination mix: 3 utilization’. In Licence category, Berkay Berk as the Project leader from METU was the winning with ‘ New gluten net formulization for gluten free products’. Agean University Aslıhan Karadağ and Alper Akkaya group came in second with ‘extending life by setting the dice for bologna’. Adnan Menderes University, Umit Ozdamar and Ali Göncü came in third by ‘ gluten free Kayseri meat pasty with kinoa’. In high school category Anıl Ertekin and Mert Asal from Cakabey was the winning with ‘Nanoplazmonic microfluidic chip platform for Patogens rapid indication in drinking water ‘. Can Pak from Cakabey was the second with ‘ Detection of aliveness of the embryo without breaking the eggs during breeding’. From the past to the future product design special category award was given to Ecem Akan as the project leader from Agean University ‘ using water kefir for producing vegetable fermentated drink production’. Green Production for food special category award was given to Gazi University Belma Aslım and Ummugulsum Tukenmez, ‘ Colon Cancer Protection, Lactobasillus based Exopolisaccaharide Functional Food Production’.
