Aegean Exporters Association targets 20B dollars exportation

The world and Turkey had a tough and fluctuating 2016 economically. As a result we are cautious for our predictions for 2017. World economy ended year 2016 with 2,4% growth much less than expected.

2,8% growth is predicted for 2017. EU growth for 2017 is predicted to be slow with Brexit.

Besides USA economy is predicted to grow a little more rapid. So we are expecting developed countries growth performance to be similar to 2016.

International products trade has been decreasing which is an obstacle for Turkey export targets.

Turkey reached its 2016 targets as opposed to all the tough conditions.

We as Agean Exporters Association, created a value of 10 billion 908 million dollars in 2016. Approximately 4 billion dollars consist of food and agricultural products. As a result it is important to concentrate on good quality food and agriculture products in the future.

Considering customs data export form Agean is around 16 billion dollars. We should aim around 20 billion dollars and we do have the potential to realize this target.

Naturally our country, duration in our geography, and downsizing in the world forces the conditions.

During these periods support given to the exporter is very important; Support by the Ministry of economy, Turk Eximbank and Credit Insurance Fund, green passport practice, are very pleasing. Our wish is removal of the obstacles for our exporters and widening of the support extent.

Our association had 1% increase of export in 2017 January-April period from 3 billion 561 million dollars to 3 billion 598 million dollars; last year export increase of 4% from 10 billion 541 million dollars to 10 billion 937 million dollars.

We aim to make more than our targets in 2017.

We are trying to expand our operation in this scope. It is important to increase our activities overseas.

Besides working on new markets Europe is as important for us. There are lots of exporters with new offices in Europe. In accordance with EU countries internal politics, there may be additional difficulties in the future. We have to build the structure as of today if we have to be there for the business. With support of Ministry of Economy we plan to build these organizations with overseas offices, stores and logistics headquarters.

R&D Innovations and design is one of the prior subjects. To increase export of high added value products we have to improve our projects plus plan new ones.
