Turkish garment sector offering speed and quality

Textiles and clothing are among the most important sectors of the Turkish economy and foreign trade. Accounting for about 7% of the GDP together, these two sectors are the core of Turkish economy in terms of GDP contribution, share in manufacturing, employment, investments and macroeconomic indicators. These sectors had a 10,32% share in total export volume in 2015. Turkey is one of the main actors in the world clothing industry.

FDI in Turkey 1.7B dollars in Q1
TURKEY received 1.7 billion USD in foreign direct investment in the first quarter of 2017. Foreign investment in Turkey increased 43
percent during the period of January-March. The banking sector got the largest amount of foreign direct investment with 919 million USD, followed by the mining sector with 223 million USD in the same period. On February 22, Spain’s Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BBVA) bought an additional 9.95 percent
stake in Garanti Bankasi from Dogus Group for 3.32 billion Turkish liras (924 million
USD). Meanwhile, Turkish companies made a total of 832 million USD in foreign direct investment in the same period.
Cherry will fly with Turkish Cargo

TURKISH CARGO and fresh fruit and vegetable producers in Turkey initialized a new cooperation to carry fresh products
of the country by air cargo. “To be present in international markets and to grow in export we have to improve value-added production and find ways to sell our products with higher prices. We believe that the best solution will be developed with cooperation with Turkish Airlines” Agean Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Export Association President
Rıza Seyyar said.

Interest income by Turkish banks rises

THE total interest income of Turkey’s banking sector reached 75 billion Turkish liras ($21.2 billion) in the first quarter of 2017. The data was given
by the main regulatory institution of Turkey on banking sector. According to data released by the Banking
Regulatory and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the income gained by interest of banks rose 20.3 percent compared to 61.8 billion liras ($17.4 billion) in the same period last year, the data

 Belarus becomes top tomato importer from Turkey’s Antalya amid Russia ban

The Mediterranean resort of Antalya, Turkey’s leading tomato producer, made $88.3 million from tomato exports to 46 countries in the first 7.5 months of the year, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency on Aug. 22.

Belarus became the top importer of the province’s tomatoes with $20.3 million in the mentioned period, followed by Romania with $18.9 million, and Bulgaria with $9.5 million.

Collaboration from Arkas and PO

Oldest olive oil facility ever found


ANCIENT Klazomenai ruins at Urla town of Izmir, is an important place to see for olive oil addicts. Here archeologists discovered a very old olive oil extraction facility. UNESCO journey of Selçuk
